Pioneering next generation dynamic materials :
harnessing molecular precision to advance material design
About us
We are a scientific research group based in the Melville Laboratory for Polymer Synthesis within the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambirdge. Research within the Scherman group exploits host-guest chemistry to design and create dynamic materials. We use cucurbit[n]uril (CB[n]) macrocycles to control molecular level interactions at colloidal, polymeric and small molecule interfaces. Our expertise spans from organic synthesis to material design with applications in sensing and the formation of novel composite materials.
The Scherman Group is comprised of chemists, engineers, materials scientists, biologists and physicsts, we work on a diverse array of projects spanning energy and healthcare sectors, driving impactful innovations. We interface with surgeons across the UK to translate our research towards the clinic and have a portfolio of patents to drive commericalisation efforts.
