The Scherman Group has always had a strong focus on commercialisation of research. Many group members have either gone on to found their own companies or have directly commercialised research from their time spent in the group.

aqdot is a spin out company working on advanced molecular capture and release technology. It was founded by Dr Roger Coulston and Dr Jing Zhang together with Profs. Scherman and Abell in 2013. Roger was a PDRA in the Scherman Group and Jing was a PhD student in the Abell Group when they developed the science that lead to the creation of aqdot . The technology can capture allergens, odors, pollutants and viruses. Some applications include: VOC capture, carry and on demand release of fragrances, gene delivery and emulsification of polymers.

H GO creates technologies that drive the transition to a more sustainable planet.
H GO was founded by Dr Enass Abo-Hamed who carried out her PhD in the Scherman Group between 2010-2014.
