Join us as a visitor

We welcome visting students to join us for short and medium term stays. Typically visitors will come for a minimum period of 6 months up to 1 year but we are flexible, please get in touch if you are interested!

Please read the departmental webpages for more information on the student visitors and requirements.

General information

  • Visiting students or researchers can start any time, it does not have to be the start of a term.

  • There is a mandatory langauge requirement which is set as a score of 7.0 in IELTS or TOEFL iBT score of 100.

  • We encourage applicants to contact us in advance (ideally 6 months) so that paperwork and visas (if needed) can be organised with sufficient time.

  • If you are coming as a coming here to carry out research which is to be assessed as part of your degree course (Masters or PhD), you are classified as a student visitor and require a student visa.

  • If you are coming under a training or work experience agreement (such as Erasmus), or if the project has nothing to do with your degree course, you will be classed as a visiting researcher on a work visa.

  • If your home insitution will require an agreement to be in place as part of your visit, this typically means you are classified as a visiting researcher.
